Cannot get the if function working in excel

Formula should be right according to my research but keep on getting "name error" referring to a number field, this is the formula and C10 = 50
=if(C10>0,"true","false")

flopcat98 :

that works for me. make sure that you have an actual number in c10 you can have text that says '50 but its not the same as a number although it looks that way.

retype the 50 in it

flopcat98 :

make sure that you havent named a range c10 that would confuse it

Customer:

I have an actual number in c10

Customer:

what do you mean by "range"

Customer:

got it

Customer:

it is an actual number

flopcat98 :

You can give a range a name by highlighting it and right clicking and selecting name and then you can refer to that entire range with the name

can you send me the spreadsheet ? is it a large spreadsheet ?

flopcat98 :

i just pasted your actual formula that you posted into a spreadsheet and it worked just fine so its not the formula

Customer:

No it is just a trial sheet want to use the function for the first time

Customer:

First time using this service don't see how to attach a file

Customer:

or by email

flopcat98 :

yeah its not easy you can post it at www.wikisend.com or you can email it [email protected] and ask them to forward it to me but it may take a few hours or a day until support gets to it

Customer:

http://wikisend.com/download/550202/iffunction issue.xlsx

Customer:

Customer:

flopcat98 :

Customer:

stupid it is because of my language settings I assume

Customer:

thanks

Customer:

was not aware that counts in excel, being used to using an english version

flopcat98 :

take the decimal point out

flopcat98 :

that is screwing it up for some reason

Customer:

it is working right now

flopcat98 :

actually i took it out and put it back and it works there was something strange about the way the decimal point was in there

Customer:

thanks and good night

flopcat98 :

can you please give me a good rating as that is what allows me to be paid

Customer:
