I have an inspiron desktop. I performed a system restore to an earlier point last night. Now I cannot open anything because it says that the Microsoft Word Starter and Excel starter is not working. Help.

Go to start > control panel > Programs > Programs and features > the scroll down and locate ms office starter/click to run > then right click on it and then select change > a window will open select repair and then click continue/next

Then the repair installation will begin.Follow the onscreen instructions accordingly to finish repair installation process.
