Why wont my Macro Record button work and why is "Create Mac

Resolved Question:

Why won't my Macro Record button work and why is "Create Macro" greyed out on the drop down menu. I can write VBA code, but it won't record. Is it some security box checked somewhere?

I'm on Office 2011 with Lion. I'm talking about Excel, but I can't record macros on Word either.

You need to make sure that the two settings "Digital Certificate for VBA Projects" and "Visual Basic for Applications" during Excel installation are selected. In the PC version (the Mac version should be similar) run the Installation setup program to get to these options and enable them

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions

Thanks for that. Mac version seems different. I tried to find these options, so I downloaded and re-installed Office for Mac. (I am working in Turkey and my original disks are at home in UK).

There was no offer for these options in the installation set up. Definitely, this seems to be on the right track, but the devil is in the detail.

Ok could you please check if you can run the macro in this file

And also check if you can record a new macro in that file

Also you need to make sure that your Mac user account has Administrative privileges. If in doubt create a new user account with Administrative privileges then reboot and log directly to that account then try to record a macro

Hope this helps
