Alright, well thats good to know.
You may need to reinstall the software. Do you have a legal copy ? Do you have the product key ?
You can try going to
control panel / add remove programs
select the office 2010 and click change
then click repair.
You can uninstall it using the same control panel / add remove programs
go to this link and download a trial version that will be good for 60 days
If you have already used the 60 days on the last trial version it probably wont work and that would be the reason it isnt working now.
If you do have a legal purchased copy you can use the same product key to turn this trial version into a paid version
How long ago did this happen ? If not very long ago try doing a system restore to a few days before the problem occured.
If that doesnt fix it right away.
Disable your firewall and antivirus programs temporarily
download a new trial version
Uninstall the old versions using the revo uninstaller
make sure that you get only the revo uninstaller it is on the left in green that says download now. dont do the "recomended downloads" which are ads for registry tuners that probably do more damage than good and cost money as well.
reboot and install a fresh copy of the trial version from the ms website
Lastly, do a search for normal.dotx
Then delete any copies that you find.
And then open word again
