I am having issues trying to get my hot/cold temperature…

Customer Question
I am having issues...

I am having issues trying to get my hot/cold temperature gauge to work on my 1996 mercury grand marquis GS ! I replaced the coolant temperature sensor and it still doesn't work ! Do I need to replace the gauge in the dash also or somthing else ???

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the connectors on the sensor itself? It's important that they not be loose or corroded.

Yes they are tight and on the ground I brushed it to make a better contact.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Grand Marquis yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes and I have flushed the cooling system also

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

The car has low miles for the year 103K

No it stays in one place all of the time , below cold ! The car puts out plenty of heat (I replaced the thermostat after I flushed the cooling system. I was wondering if the dash gauge was one with the "motor" in it ? )
