it may be the sunroof drain. Close the sunroof and using a bucket of water pour the water on the drivers side of the sunroof near the front corner. Then see if water is draining in the area.

Already tried that drains are working fine
Mercury Mechanic: A. Penland, Ford Senior Master Technician, ASE replied 5 months ago

Ok. You may want to check the cowl drains. These are located under the wiper cowl panel near the windshield. You will have to remove the wiper arms, then plastic wiper cowl and check the drains.
But try the same test on the wiper cowl panel on the drivers side.

Do you want me to dump water on cowl drains
Mercury Mechanic: A. Penland, Ford Senior Master Technician, ASE replied 5 months ago

Yes, like heavy rain. Do not dump the complete bucket at once. Pour it onto the windshield so it runs down into that area.

Mercury Mechanic: A. Penland, Ford Senior Master Technician, ASE replied 5 months ago

I removed wipers and cleaned cowl drains not enough debris to block vents. What next before I call the Water Doctor
Mercury Mechanic: A. Penland, Ford Senior Master Technician, ASE replied 5 months ago

Did any water leak into the vehicle during the test?

Ask Your Own Mercury Question
Customer reply replied 5 months ago
no water came into the problem area also not a lot of debris under cowl
Mercury Mechanic: A. Penland, Ford Senior Master Technician, ASE replied 5 months ago

the other way we diagnose water leaks is to run a water hose onto the general area where the leak is present. Basically reset the hose to where the water can run over the area for a while without holding the hose personally. That will allow you to enter the vehicle through a door that the water is not running over to look for any leaks.

we have a noreaster storm coming in tonight will check after storm when it does enter on past storms it is not obvious seems damp on pad laying on firewall and gradually soaks the whole floor on drivers side
Mercury Mechanic: A. Penland, Ford Senior Master Technician, ASE replied 5 months ago

Ok. Because there are no common causes of leak on your vehicle at that spot. Now, the passenger side yes.
