Second opinion] I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid 4x4. It has the same problem with stalling at highway speeds with a red triangle warning and a stop safely now. I replaced the mecs cooling pump, changed all coolant in the engine and mecs. I used the vacuum tool that sucks the new antifreeze in to the full line. As a matter of fact, I replaced all fluids from bumper to bumper. I purchased an engine temp sender that screws into the head, and I also purchased the electric engine coolant pump. But it still stalls with the red triangle, and the works stop safely now. What am I missing?

There is no check engine light on, and no codes set. The car stalls at highway speeds. I have never had a hybrid before, so I'm not very smart at these. I have been a mechanic since 1975, but this is different.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Mariner Hybrid yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes, I am repairing it one part at a time. MRCS electric pump, Engine temp sensor, engine electric cooling pump are the parts that I have replaced so far.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

When I replaced the coolant in the engine and mecs, I purchased the vacuum outfit made for hybrids so there are no air pockets.

I read the last question with the other expert. Since your 2008 Mariner is a Hybrid, you should have all the modules in the vehicle scanned for trouble codes, besides the PCM. You could have internal problems with the transmission, which is basically a big electric motor/generator. It has a module for it called the TCM (Transmission Control Module) which can store codes and be scanned by proper scan tools. You can have codes in the TCM and not the PCM (Engine Computer).
