The fan runs at one speed only. 2004 Gramd Marquis Ultimate.

Customer Question
The fan runs at...

The fan runs at one speed only.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Mercury?

2004 Gramd Marquis Ultimate

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Marquis yourself? What have you tried so far?

I checked all the fuses. Ran the environmental system through all functions. The fan speed control does not affect the speed of the fan. It does affect various functions. I checked the temp control - ran it from 60 degrees to 79 degrees. At 74 degrees the fan slowed down, but did not cease operation.

Mechanic's Assistant: Most vehicles have two fuse panels. Have you located both?

I checked the fuse panel under the dash. The fuse panel under the hood I did not check. If that fuse wasbad, the system would not work at all.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

The light module recall was done a couple of weeks ago. Idid check the wiring rto the encironment control panel. It is securely attached.

Are you talking about the cooling fan under the hood for the engine or the fan for the AC blowing air through the dash vents?

Just need to make sure we ate looking at the same component.

The A/C fan blowing trough the vents. It is blowing on "High" and cannot be adjusted.

I would like to go to phone, but have already spent $26.00 to you all on this problem and money is tight.
s
I have put the A/C and heating system through all functions --- Max A/c, A/c Vent/ floor, Floor-Def, Def. Everything changes except the blower fan, it remains oh high through all the ranges of movement.. When I depress the "Off" button, the system goes to max a/c. I de[fess the "Automatic" button and the system blows through the floor vents. One other observation. -The fan speed control - when rotating it there is no resistance yet the tow extremes of rotation, the a/c - heater system changes, but the fam speed is unaffected. I pulled the control module and checked the plug connection - the plug is properly connected and all the wires are in the plug good and tight.
