Customer Question

it jerks around 40 to 50 mph, i thought it was the transmission but the I bought it from told me that it was a spark plug coil... he had the same issue and a coil was the problem.
JA: What is the model of your '50 Mercury?
Customer: It's a 2001Grand Marquis
JA: Are you fixing your Marquis yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have had this problem for over a year. I thought it was the injectors and I used injector cleaner in my gas and it seemed to run better for about 6 months. now it's doing it again and the injector cleaner has not worked so I think I have something else but can't figure it out...
JA: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?
Customer: yes same as usual
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: i don't think so

WHen was the vehicle last tuned up?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I bought the car about three years ago and have not tuned it up... the mechanic said there is nothing to tune, it's all computerized... so the answer to your question is I don't know... This is what started all of this, I decided to change the plugs and was told they did not need to be changed.

Thank you. One more thing. You mentioned the coils. Were any of these replaced?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No, the coils have not been replaced... One more thing, I filled up the gas tank last week and added a can of "Seafoam" injector cleaner and it seems to be running better, it still jerks but not as bad.
