2007 Merc. Mountaineer Premier, 96K miles, original spark

Customer Question

2007 Merc. Mountaineer Premier, 96K miles, original spark plugs, coils. Meter says cyl 5, 6, 7, misfiring, bank 1 system too lean. Just changed oil, TPS and 02 intake sensors. Vehicle won't go faster than 70 in AWD or 4 WD. Transmission fairly "rough" when approaching 48-50 MPH then shifts OK. Certain I need a complete engine tune-up, and look-see at transmission. . Wires to Cyl 5, 6, 7 electrically OK no shorts, good continuity. Can you suggest next steps. Not ready to bring it to a shop. Definitely wont bring it to local Ford/Lincoln dealer.

New motorcraft plugs are steps one. Has the transmission oil been serviced, if not do so then remove both battery cables and hold them together for one minute to erase the computers memory so it can relearn the shift strategy. Only diagnose the lean concern if that code returns after the tune up and computer reset.

You want a excellent 5 star answer & I would like to be rated the same for providing it. Consider I don't know your skill level & I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle. It may take a few back and forth replies. Try your best to respond with good detail so I can do the same. I normally log in at 3pm and work late. A rating is required. Your rating me, what I type. I am not an employee of this website, nor have control over the fees or the time it took to get a response. If you rate negative or not at all you still paid, but I get nothing. I want you pleased with me and my efforts, so let me know if your experience here has come up short.

Thanks Chris
