Since the od lamp is flashing it is setting a diagnostic trouble code. From what it sounds like you are describing you have an itneral transmission failure of some sort. The trans will always have reverse and one forward gear range if the electronic control system failed. So since you dont have reverse and it barely drives it sounds like one of the clutch packs has failed and stuck together to another internal trans componet when it shouldnt be. A diagnsotic check fro codes needs to be done first to see what code(s) are stored and then drop the trans pan and inspect for debris in the pan to indicate an internal failure..
