Hello and welcome to Justanswer,
My name is XXXXX XXXXX I am here to assist you with your question.

Your check engine light comes on when the PCM (computer) sees a system fault and when this happens the PCM will set and store a fault code and or codes. In order to know what is failing in the system the next step is to have the system scanned and the fault code and or codes retrieved, once you have the fault code and or codes we can direct you in the correct repair. If you stop by your local part store you can have the system scanned for free in every state except California.

If you have more questions and or have more questions, please let me know.
