mercury milan: with a factory installed remote start

Resolved Question:

I have a mercury milan with a factory installed remote start, the car will not manually start but starts just fine with the remote start. When trying to start manually there is no noise or sound when the key is turned.

Hi. In the instrument cluster display there should be a symbol that looks like a lock. It should come on solid when the key is turned on, and then after like 3-5 seconds it should turn off. That is normal operation, indicating the chip in the key is ok.

If when you turn the ignition on and that symbol is blinking constantly, it is a problem with the factory security system, involving the key you are trying to use. Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any more questions. Thanks, Eric
