2003 mercury mountaineer: indicator lights..this be the oil pump

Resolved Question:

2003 mercury mountaineer indicator lights for low oil pressure high oil temp. Could this be the oil pump?

It is very possible the oil pump has failed. I would first recommend not driving the vehicle any further as you could induce more damage if indeed the oil pump is bad. If the pump is not pumping or not circulating the oil it will cause the low oil pressure light to come on and the oil temp since the oil is not circulating.

Could it be anything other than the oil pump?

Yes it is possible that either the Instrument Cluster is bad or possibly a bad Powertrain Control Module. But it is hard for me to say as an oil pressure test will need to be done on the motor.
