Have Mercedes questions? Ask a mechanic for answers ASAP
Good day, I hope you are doing well. My name is Gabriel, I am a master certified automotive technician and I would be happy to assist you with this today.
It sounds like the sunroof motor may have lost it's saved positioning, or maybe something is stuck and binding in the tracks. Has the battery been disconnected at all recently?
Okay got it.
These have saved positions in the motor, and when it loses these saved positions then it will not allow it to fully close, because the computer thinks that it is already closed.
I am trying to locate the service procedure to see if this can be done using the switch or if it will need a scan tool to relearn the motor
Yeah that is the most common cause when this happens
Here are the instructions I found from MB
You may also try these steps:
Alright, if the reset is not working then there is most likely an internal issue in the motor/module
Yes it will need to go to a certified repair shop to test/inspect module operation
It would be worth a shot to disconnect the battery for about 10mins to see if the system will reset
You are very welcome
I will close this out now and the chat will be finished. Have a great night, feel free to reach out for any future needed assistance
