Customer Question
I have SRS light...

I have SRS light on. Scanner says N/2/7 (restraint system control unit) DTC Status: current and stored

Mechanic's Assistant: Is anything interfering with the seatbelt latch?

Not that I know of. We changed the seats but changed them back to see if it made a difference.

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Mercedes?

2008 Cls 550

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your 550 yourself? What have you tried so far?

We do some work and have a scanner but that is about it.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Car did have some front end damage but air bags were not deployed. I changed out the door but put the original air bag back in.

WDDDJ72X28A121576. Scanner shows no number codes. SRS light stays on. When clearing codes from air bag screen light goes off then back on because it is a current problem. then go back to read codes it reads exactly as follows:N2/7 (Restraint system control unit ):
coding is faulty
DTC status:
Current and stored.
When I go through each component test all says ok.I have a restraint control unit from another CLS 550 and tried it to see if we could get a different result but the message on the scanner is exactly the same. I am using iCarsoft MBII scanner.
Mercedes Mechanic: Marty, Mercedes Technician replied 4 months ago

Ok, you will need to have the SRS control unit coded with the factory tester. I' also have the codes read with the factory tester just to be sure that there are no other codes stored that the iCarsoft cannot read.
