The labor pricing for this job is listed in hours, and depends on the hourly rate of the shop. The listed hours is 4.6 hours. This means the labor can be expected to be around $500-$650. I see a transfer case online for around $500. This means that if you go to a reputable local shop/garage that has experience with Mercedes, then you will be able to get this job done for less than $1500. The dealer is known for charging ridiculous pricing for parts and labor. If the vehicle is sound and in good shape, then this would be worth it.
