Customer Question

I have a 2002 Mercedes E320 wagon my Speedometer works sometimes and sometimes not.when it stops working my car won't shift when working shifts fine.Is it a speedo problem or something else. Thanks Bob
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you noticed any leaking?
Customer: no leaking not sure if original or not
JA: Are you fixing your E320 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I'm trying to fix it myself wondering if I changed the Speedo if it has a problem is that why it won't shift
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: that is it for now .Thanks Bob

Ok, your problem will be with one of the wheel speed sensors or with the traction control module. The speed signal for the speedometer comes from the wheel speed sensors and goes through the traction control module then to the speedometer. This will not be a speedometer problem. You need to get the car connected to a Mercedes diagnostic tester to check for fault codes in the traction control module in order to determine which sensor is needed or if the traction control module is faulty.
