I have a1996 280C with the single wiper for the windshield.

Customer Question

I have a1996 280C with the single wiper for the windshield. Yesterday during a severe rainstorm it gave out completely. Not a blown fuse. Happened once before when I needed a new alternator.
JA: Do all the fuses have the correct amperage for the circuits they're in?
Customer: I would have to check -- currently not able to do that.
JA: What is the model/year of your Mercedes?
Customer: 1996 C280
JA: Are you fixing your C280 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I had the alternator replaced by the dealor -- it is acting similar in loss of power (windows, lighter).
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I guess not

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the wiper motor has stopped and nothing else was lost at exactly the same time then the most likely cause would be the wiper motor itself. What you would need to do is test for power and ground at the motor using an incandescent test light with the key on and wiper switch on. If power and ground are present yet the motor doesn't run then it will need to be replaced.
