The FOB isn't turning the ignition. There's light everywhere

Customer Question

The FOB isn't turning the ignition. There's light everywhere but no crank.
JA: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?
Customer: yes once you insert the key I makes the usual sound releasing the steering. Key isn't worn
JA: What is the model/year of your Mercedes?
Customer: 2009 c300 mbenz
JA: Are you fixing your C300 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: nothing yet
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Only that I got so upset and left the key in the ignition. Maybe it'll come back to its senses and recognize its FOB.

Hi, my name is***** the steering lock unlocks it tells me that the key is being recognized. If the key will not turn after the lock unlocks I would say that the ignition switch is at fault. It's also possible that the steering lock is unlocking but not sending the confirmation to the ignition switch. It's always a good idea to try a second key but this sounds more like an ignition switch or steering lock failure. You should also make sure that the car battery is not weak.
