You could have a wiring or module issue but the most likely cause for the system not working would be a bad blind spot sensor. If there is no physical damage or visible wiring issues then the first step in diagnosing the problem will be to use a scan tool to see what fault codes have set turning on the warning, and then testing can be done from there. Do you know what codes are setting?
