Replace the window switch. It sounds like this is your problem.
Its the same for 1999.
You can test the switch if you have a multimeter set to measure resistance.
There is a separate part of the switch for the auto feature.
In that case, check the door switch for that door. The module may not be seeing the door open or closed. Also check the wires in the door jam, there is a rubber boot with wires inside. This is a common place to find broken wires that could be causing your problem.
Check all fuses and look for broken wires in the door bellows boot.
No, but this is a basic step that should not be overlooked.
You need a dealer type scan tool to diagnose, I wonder if you have any codes in the body control module.
They have the diagnostic tools to get the job done.
There are a lot of European techs that start their own shops, if you can find someone in your location who specialized in European cars. They maybe less expensive.
