I had a rumbling noise when turning my 2003 430 s class

Customer Question

I had a rumbling noise when turning my 2003 430 s class matic. I had control arms replace but noise came back. My Mercedes service man said to do donut turns right and left and noise is gone. He does not know if I change fluid in my model. Is this correct and should I try to have it done?
JA: Just to clarify, which fluid are you talking about? And what color and consistency is it?
Customer: transfer box fluid.
JA: Are you fixing your 430 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Donut turns fixed the noise
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: what to know if on this year and model transfer box fluid can be changed

Hi. THere are clutches in the transfer box. THey need to be properly lubed with clean fluid or the noise will return. And on your s model the fluid is replaceable and I would recommend having it done at a mercedes dealer to ensure the correct fluid is used.
