2006 Mercedes CLS 500 (6A021154) The car will not start... Battery is good and Starter seems to be fully functioning. I am pulling the following code. P1856 (Selector level position detection has failed) I tried starting in neutral still nothing. Please help.

First check the starter relay , i sent you the diagram for it and location

This the P1856 fault code description, it is a common failure on them

you just need to replace that switch if fuse & starter relay are good ,check all fuses please .

this is the floor shifter itself ,the one you use to change gears

As long as this is the only fault code in the system
