Marty I took my 02 ML 500 to the shop with a check engine

Customer Question

I took my 02 ML 500 to the shop with a check engine light and an accelerator petal that had delays. They found a code for the accelerator position sensor, replaced it and the problem is still occurring. Any ideas?

Hi. Generally from the symptoms you describe, the problem sounds like the throttle body. Not the accelerator pedal position sensor. The throttle body is more common to fail and cause surging, and delayed response. I would have your mechanic check into that. Please respond with your comments or further questions. Thanks.

It was some bent pins on the connection for the
accelerator position sensor and some codes that had to be reset.Christian

Wow, ok. Someone must have bent the pins over at some point. Glad you are back up and running though. Thank you.
