I have a 1988 560SL that was serviced by the Bellevue Mercedes

Customer Question

I have a 1988 560SL that was serviced by the Bellevue Mercedes for loose steering. They replaced the steering coupling and charged $1055. Steering is still is loose and the car drifts at speeds above 50 mph. What can I do to tighten the steering.

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. My name is***** there is still a lot of play in the steering after the steering coupling replacement I suspect that either the steering gear box is worn out or needs to be adjusted. The steering tie rods and center link should also be checked for looseness. The only thing that ever causes this type of symptom on the SL is a loose gear box or loose steering linkage or improper front wheel alignment. Bad tires could also cause the problem.
