Hello,
If the vehicle was checked before the check engine light came on, it might be possible that the workshop was not sure about the cause. Now there is a fault code stored in the engine control unit, which will point to the cause. So i suggest to have the fault codes read out now.
Possibly, the cause can be in the mass airflow sensor, spark plug or their high-voltage wires. There are many components to check, but reading out the fault codes will narrow it down to specific function chain.
