A new question is answered every 9 seconds blower fan is making shop..bearings

Resolved Question:

1985 SL 380
The heater/ac blower fan is making noises. I removed the assembly and there is considerable play in the spindles. Removed and took to an auto electric repair shop and they advised that bearings are most likely shot but can not be easily replaced as the plastic becomes brittle and could easily break.

Part no. 107-830-01-08
I can purchase new for $600.00
Is there a cheaper way to solve this problem?

Can this be sent anywhere for rebuilding? I am in Canada

Hi Noel, it's possible to rebuild the motor but it's not a sure thing that it will go well. Click on the links below to a very well put together step by step rebuild of the motor. Aside from that the replacement is your only option so you might as well give it a try. Let me know if you have any questions.
