Hi Phil,

C1201 relates to the BAS release switch which is an integrated part of the brake servo (designation A7/7s1) - see the attached image for description of the code.
As it is a plausibility issue & would be inclined to try replacing the stop lamp switch first as it is comparing the signal from both - the stop lamp switch is cheap & easy to replace & is located above the brake pedal. The underdash trim needs removing & the switch is a simple twist fit in the pedal housing.

Once replaced, clear the codes with a diagnostic tool & try again. If the fault code returns it is likely to be a fault with the switch itself - check the wiring for good contact to the servo.
As said, it is part of the servo & must be replaced as a new servo assembly.
