I Have Severe Anxiety And Stress And Depression. What Can I Do?

My name is***** you have been in psychiatric care, in and out of jobs, and through multiple different types of treatment with limited success, then yes, I think you may be a candidate for disability. This would be a good conversation to have with you and your psychiatrist as ultimately, their notes are going to be pivotal in terms of you getting accepted. For instance, their notes should be referencing your functional limitations based on disability. If the notes paint a more positive picture, it can be difficult. It is also important to know that being accepted for disability often can take two to three year making it not an easy path to choose. This is especially true when they disability may not be "obvious". I coach my patients that they are waiting in a very long line with very short staff at the front and alongside people who have had things like significant strokes and they're unable to talk, car accidents who have lost limbs, and terminal conditions where they have months to live. That is not set to diminish your own Illness but it is to give you some perspective on why the disability process has become difficult to get through quickly.So yes, if your mental health has continued to be the number one factor in your inability to hold work, then pursuit of disability does make sense even if the wait can be long and frustrating. The other thing that I strongly recommend is consulting an attornies in your area who specialize in Social Security. Consider calling at least two of them for free consults on your case. There is no reason to work with an attorney too quickly, you should do the application at ssa.gov on your own for starters. But hire an attorney if you end up getting denied and need to appeal. (This advice has been given to me by attorneys in my line of work).
