VerifiedHi, thank you for writing. My name is***** a grudge in itself is not symbolic of any one particular mental health condition. However, ruminating about things, placing blame on others, being suspicious and unforgiving could be signs of personality disorders like Paranoid Personality Disorder or Narcissistic Personality disorder. Irritability/Anger outbursts can be a sign of depression. And really, your brother's anger, resentment and unforgiving nature could also be signs of depression as they demonstrate a skew of negativity, although those are not the most characteristic traits.

If he isn't willing to seek help, then I am afraid things are not likely to change. He has been doing the same thing for 30 years now and even if it is maladaptive, it is his choice for handling this demon he has. You can only do your best to continue to encourage him to get help but ultimately, you can't control his behavior and may be better served to change the way you feel about his obsession, meaning you no longer allow this to affect the way you feel.
