I have obsessive thoughts based on my worst fears. Migraines, death or disease, the level of commitment and trust from girlfriend, best friend trust, the objective or purpose of God or whatever beings createde us, apophenia, paradolia...
It's not just racing thoughts, it's the fact that I can't distinguish the real concerns from the exaggerated or completely irrational.
If my brain can't see the truth of a situation then anything that isn't provable is probable if it is a negative thing. Positive things are unlikely.
But knowing this in theory doesn't help in reality because sometimes negative things really are likely and positive things really are unlikely.
What medicatuons can help me care less? Caring too much causes you to be your own worst enemy. Thanks

Hi, thank you for writing. My name is***** sorry you were suffering with such assistant obsessions about all kinds of important things in your life. That really is a Hallmark of OCD. It tends to Target things that you care about. And the more attention you give those thoughts, the worse it gets.
To answer your question, first-line medication for OCD is an older antidepressant called Anafranil. It's a second because of their higher tolerability are the ssris. There are a few ssris in particular that help with obsessional thinking like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, Lexapro, and Viibryd. Sometimes higher doses are required that may be prescribed for something like routine depression and often, you won't see full Improvement in the SSRI treatment until month 12. However, because of the pesky nature of OCD, medication use is also recommended in addition to counseling with a form of cognitive behavioral therapy called "exposure and response prevention."
I hope this helps give you some insight into what things you can do to get better control over your OCD. I'm sorry are experiencing all of this worry. Remember, that's our only thoughts. They do not predict the future, they do not have control over what happens. Stop allowing your thoughts to matter so much in the way you feel and the way you act and they will eventually begin to fade.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

JulieLockesburg, AR

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.

John and StefanieTucson, AZ

I have been dealing with an extremely serious health crisis for over three years, and one your physicians asked me more questions, gave me more answers and encouragement than a dozen different doctors who have been treating me!!
