OKMH824211 I sometimes have difficulty sleeping. It's not a chronic problem, but it happens often enough that I'd like to find techniques/methods that can help me when I experience the problem. I don't want to take sleeping pills! Melatonin hasn't worked. I always try to shut down my computer/phone 1-2 hours before bedtime, I read, no caffeine in the pm, etc. The point is, I'm a middle-aged man who deals with normal everyday problems (job, finances, etc), and I sometimes have a hard time sleeping. My mind becomes active (e.g. What if...? Why did I...?), and it might happen while I'm trying to fall asleep or I might wake up in the middle of the night. What are some methods/techniques that I might use? By the way, my teenage daughter sometimes has the same problem, and I'd like to help her too!

I get exercise - walking and biking. I'm reasonably fit.

how much and how many times per week?

I'm an active person. I don't necessarily have an exercise routine, but walk and bike as part of everyday life, and then take longer walks, bike rides, and surf once or twice per week.

and more exercise doesn't help with sleep?
