Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer. How long has this been an issue for? Who or what is he violent to? What is his response to punishment? Have you considered taking him to see a Child Psychologist for treatment?

It has been going on for a few months. Escalating. Mom and, dad. Was verbal, calling them by first names. Then stupid, idiots, retards. 3 days ago grabbed mom by both arms and kneed her in groin. She fell and lost conscious for few seconds. This boy is in advanced classes in school, athlete if the year in track snd field, travel baseball team . Teachers would never believe his home behavior if they knew . Yes, treatment has been considered. He has conned 2 therapists already. Very charming boy.

It sounds like he may be displaying traits of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) which is a very serious disorder that involves a child acting angry/rageful, irritable, aggressive, vindictive, and/or defiant to authority figures primarily parents or family members. The other possibility for the behavior could be a Conduct Disorder which is more purposeful behavior of manipulation, aggression, breaking rules, lack of empathy...but usually Conduct Disorders are not just seen in one environment as the behavior would be present in both school and at home, so likely your son is displaying ODD instead since it is quite common for ODD to only be displayed in one environment.

Overall this is a very serious issue and I would recommend that he see another Child Psychologist, but instead find one that specializes in ODD and behavioral problems. Also if you can provide video of when your son goes on a "rage" than that would be helpful as well for the psychologist to see too.

Are there any good books on this subject.

Here are a couple good books:

"The Defiant Child: A Parent's Guide to Oppositional Defiant Disorder" by Riley

"The Explosive Child: A New Approach for Understanding and Parenting Easily Frustrated, Chronically Inflexible Children" by Greene
