I am very sorry to know about this serious and sad situation. Alcoholism like any other addiction, is a chronic illness that requires sound professional therapeutic support and a good "support system", both very important but also useless if the very person does not fully acknowledges his problems and addiction-s and takes full responsibility for his rehabilitation process.

From your message it seems clear he has alcoholism, and very possibly suffers of depression and anxiety too as his words reflect, and uses to be the case most of the time. He does need what is known as a "dual diagnosis program", which is treatment for people suffering of both, addictions and mental health disorders.

How to proceed? Since he is an adult, he is the only one with the power to request and consent to get treatment. Only adult people who are disable and have a conservator could get assistance through other people in order to get support. It seems that's not his case since he still has a job. Then you could look for information on local dual diagnosis programs and then share that information with him.

If previous outpatient support has not worked, then this time it would have to be through the best approach, namely detox program as necessary and then intensive inpatient treatment, including individual, group and family therapy, then aftercare program, intensive outpatient and finally regular individual counseling and support group.

You could contact them to get all necessary information but they would only do work on setting an intake assessment and planning possible treatment once he contacts them and signs all consent forms complying with all necessary requirements

Sure, he needs to be assessed before he could get admitted for treatment. They would request consents to get his records from previous providers in order to provide the best possible support. Getting necessary information is the first step, then the most important one is about him taking responsibility and showing willingness to commit to treatment and hos rehabilitation process with everything it implies.
