I have had a chronic itch over much of my body for many

Resolved Question:

I have had a chronic itch over much of my body for many years. Dematologists have not been able to treat it to the extent that I no longer itch. I scratch until there is bleeding much of the time. I find it difficult to stop scratching even if it is painful. What can I do? The areas that itch the most are my
arms, shoulders, legs and feet.

Did you mean to post this to the mental health section or medical? Have you heard of Morgellons disease?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

I have not heard of Morgellons disease.

I thought I was posting to medical, but perhaps mental health is appropriate.

Expert:  Dr. Rossi replied 5 years ago.

Do you think this is a psychosomatic reaction due to your stress level?

Morgellons is a relatively new conditions studied by the CDC.

There are different ways to manage stress/anxiety. One would be working with a counselor or using neurofeedback. Other options are meditation, exercise or resorting to anything that you've found helpful in reducing your stress. Even joining a support group in your area through may be helpful and supportive.

Hypnotherapy can help one manage stress as well as physical sensations/pain/itching. Some insurance covers this and may be something to look into if you've not tried it so far.

Please advise if you want your post moved to the medical/dermatology section.
