I understand. There is a new SSRI anti-depressant recently approved by the FDA which is very effective and does not have the side effects of loss of sexual desire or weight gain. The drug is Viibryd. I would ask your prescribing physician about this.

I have heard of this and wondered about it! Are you aware if there is the anti anxiety component to viibyrd that lexapro has?

Yes, all SSRI anti-depressants allievate anxiety.

ok. I wondered because I was on zoloft and it made my anxiety worse but lexapro was great for it.

Yes, the effects can be different from patient to patient, but in general they all allievate anxiety. The only way to know if the Viibryd will work for you is to take it and see. Who prescribes your Lexapro, GP, OB, psychiatrist?

It started with ob 9 years ago after my son was born, and currently it is neurologist I have seen for 3 years for migraines. I did see a psychiatrist for a meds check and have been in counseling for depression and anxiety.

that makes sense about trying viibryd. I had a friend who was horribly anxious on lexapro so it makes sense that every patient is different.

I am glad to know that you are in therapy. Depression and related anxiety are most effectively treated with psychotherapy combined with anti-depressants. I would advise you to see a psychiatrist as they are the specialists in prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications, and could work with you to get your medication right for you.
