Thanks for bringing your question to JustAnswer.

It sounds as though the antidepressant they've chosen for him is not working. Help him get back to a psychiatrist to see if adding Abilifiy will help the Zoloft work better, or if it's time to switch him to another antidepressant. It can be hard to know which one a person's depression will respond to, so it may take a couple of changes to get the exact medication and dosage that will help. Also it would be good to help him find a therapist to talk to while he's waiting to go back into rehab. Make sure the therapist is certified to treat addictions, and specializes in this kind of work.

He is going in a 28 day program next Friday (7 days) should I take him to the psychiatrist next week before he goes in the rehab? The rehabs usually want the patient to be stabalized on medication before they come in because they don't have enough time to deal with mental health issues in a 28 day period of time.

please have him see a psychiatrist prior for him to going to rehab so that his mental health symptoms could be reduced so that he can deal with his substance abuse issues. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
