Wellbutrin XL may be prescribed at 450mg daily. Such a dose is routine and is considered "safe," but please understand: "safe" is a relative term with medications; it is usually not a black-and-white, yes-or-no thing.
Generally people do not get side effects that are problematic at 450mg/day that they did not at least experience a little bit of at 300mg/day. If you tolerate it at 300mg/day without problems, you probably won't develop some brand new side effect at 450mg/day.
That said, if you are anxious on 300mg of Wellbutrin XL, you might become more anxious on 450mg of it.
