Yes, you may be seen and HIPPA will ensure that your information is safeguarded. One option is using the EAP benefits for free counseling. Another would be going directly to your insurance carrier and asking for in network referrals for counseling rather than EAP (employee assistance program) The latter is also counseling and is provide off of your work site by a licensed clinician. But, since it is a benefit provided by many employers, you may chose to find your own provider. That may be anyone who takes insurance, unless you want to pay out of pocket. There will always be a stipulation of what information is disclosable such as that pertaining to ensure your safety and that of another identified person. The therapist will discuss the limitation of confidentiality but the main ones are: suicidal/homicidal ideation, abuse of elderly or minor.
