Hi, I've been feeling worthless...

Hi, I've been feeling worthless for years but recently with more significant weight gain caused by stress and emotional exhaustion, I feel ten times worse. I don't want to go outside the door as I feel so fat and ugly. I've tried to lose weight before with varying degrees of success but my motivation for it now is completely gone, I havent the energy to start again. Plus, I'm a single divorced Mom whose son stays a lot with my Mom, I've no real friends and relationships with guys end before they have a time to start. The only area of my life where I have success is in my teaching job but it causes me such stress and worry that I can hardly cope with other areas of my life. I'm off on holidays now, luckily I'm off because even though I've been successful with work, I was reaching the end of my tether the last few months. I'm just afraid I'll lose everything eventually. I seem to be on a downward slope. Plus, MOTIVATION for life is nearly gone, only for my son I think I would prefer to be gone from the earth, it's joyless. Sorry, for being so morbid and complaining, reading over this I sound like a whiny cow but what can I do to learn to like life?

You yourself know that your depression is increasing and your motivation is relevant to that depression. You should do whatever leg work you can to find mental health care that costs less. There are sliding fee scales in many practices that cuts their cost. You have to be creative in finding care so that you don't spiral anymore out of control. Or find someone that does not charge for their services such as your clergy. You have to find the motivation to access care if nothing else. Have your mom help you look. Do whatever you have to do to decrease this. All your issues seem to be tied to this and this will help you maintain your other responsibilities. Start by calling your insurance carrier or the agency used by your school to help their employees. Sometimes they have employee assistance services which doesn't cost anything
