Hi, I'd like to help you with your question.

Although Experts on JA can provide resources, in most cases we generally don't recommend certain facilities. Our job is to give you options so you can choose the best resolution for your needs.

Here are some links that offer reviews for the Amen clinic: If you are willing to pay a fee, Angie's List provides ratings.***-***-**** this is a resource with Dr. Amen discussing various topics.

It might also be advisable for you to consider another evaluation with a different doctor. Sometimes, it is good to have different opinions so you can get the best answers possible.

Also, consider therapy if you are not already seeing someone. It can help give you a better chance at a accurate diagnosis and provide support and insight into your needs.

Please let me know if I can help you with more questions,

We have seen many different doctors over the past 10 years, he has had therapy by two different therapists. He has been diagnosed with a sleep disorder, with severe ADD, with Dyslexia, with slow learning processing. He is directionally challenged, has a major problem with time management and cannot seem to learn simple directions to keep a job. He also can't shop up anywhere on time...job, school, family event etc. We, the family have noticed many more abnormal symptoms but the doctors never see these symptoms and we can't get a solid diagnosis. I think the brain scan might give us a definite diagnosi and a suggested treatment from that evaluation.

He can't keep a job, has no income and no insurance...and can't seem to get disability payments without a better diagnosis. I'm thinking a brain scan at some place well qualified to read it and suggest treatment is almost a last resort. The young man in question is tired of all the doctors, exhausted with paperwork cannot keep a job, cannot get his high school diploma...gets so out of the norm with his sleeping habits that hw sleeps all day and stays awake all night. He has been suicidal (not at the momnet) just every discouraged and hopeless that anything will ever change.

Can you suggest anything that we haven't tried?

Have you tried working with an educational psychologist? Whenever someone is coping with a difficulty with retaining information and learning processes, an educational psychologist can help.

An educational psychologist works to help people from the gifted range to people with disabilities. They can do an evaluation and determine if there is an impediment to learning. They can also determine if he has a brain disorder or if the problem is learning related.

Here is a link to what an educational psychologist does and how they can help:

Here are two links to find an educational psychologist:

Once your family member is evaluated, you will know more about how to proceed. The psychologist should provide a detailed outline of a diagnosis and options for treatment, including whether or not a brain scan is indicated.
