I believe you are looking for the services of a counselor skilled and trained in what is called 'TA' otherwise known as , Transactional Analysis' its based on the developmental notion that we start with a 'child self' and develop a 'parent self' and 'adult self'. The child self seeks to have its needs met, such as getting love, food, and security..&..the need for fun/ free child. The parent self sets limits and rules and is basically a person's conscience. The 'adult self is the person who has the most contact with the real world and tries to get the child's needs met by following these rules, but may also change the rules if it finds it does not match reality very well. So the adult self is the negotiator.
How well these are formed determines how balanced a person is...
It's rather complex to explain and would take many a email to do that ..but what I believe is happening in your case is that you are not experiencing your 'Free Child' the part of you that wants to experience joy! laughter! song! and just plain fun..
Counselors who utilize transactional Analysis work contractually on solving "here and now" problems and their counseling work focuses on creating productive problem solving behaviors...this is usually done in a practical way and not so much talk..( as you required) Using TA, they establish an egalitarian, safe and mutually respectful working relationship with their clients. This working relationship provides creative 'tools' clients can utilize in their day-to-day functions to improve the quality of their lives..i.e getting in touch with your.'free Child' and a healthy balance of all 3.
