This answer was rated:

My daughter has been dating a guy for 6 months. The relationship has been good. Lately he has been smothering her for her time. Needs to be called or texted when she comes or goes. He wants to spend all his time with her. She said she feels smothered. She doesnt want to break up, but how can she fix this relationship?

Thank you for bringing your question on JustAnswer.

It sounds like your daughter's friend, this man is immature, anxious OR too dependent on her.

Your daughter told her that she needed more space for self that he did not want and basically did not trust her words.

He may need psychotherapy that uses COGNITIVE-BEHAVIOR therapy to modify his dysfunctional thoughts and behavior.

She can advise him to see a therapist for 3 months
