My son now age 41 was diagnosed with Schizoaffective

Customer Question

My son now age 41 was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder at age 14. He has what I call 'psychotic episodes 'at intervals! The rest of the time he is 95% self-sufficient! Should I let him just play out the 3 wks these episodes usually last or try frantically to get help for him. During the most recent episode, his MD said he doesn't believe he's a danger to himself or anyone else! Thank you very much for your opinion. Judith

Hi I am a Clinical Psychologist.
Thank you for bringing your question on JustAnswer.
I am glad to hear your son is getting better.
May I ask you a question before I offer an answer? His current diagnosis is also Schizoaffective disorder? Does he have depression, anxiety or mood swings at times?
Could you give me 1-3 primary questions?
