It varies. In US anyone prescribing must receive special training. It is for detoxing from oxycodone primarily. It blocks some of the opiate receptors that are associated with euphoria and side effects of withdrawal. Both the opiate in it and the blocker can be very dangerous if not done right. Tapering is right idea, but it needs 100% doctors supervision. I would rather taper from oxy than suboxone, but sometimes this is the only chance.
