VerifiedHi, Perinatal psychiatry is basically designed for women's health pre/and post delivery. Having a baby who is crying and not sleeping affects you. They are not trying to take your baby away, what they are doing is getting you support to help get you through these first few months. People who are referred to this service are women like yourself, a difficult child, you are overtired and need support. Post-partum depression is another reason one may be referred. Treatment may be with a therapist who understands what you need and can teach you some techniques to relieve any anxiety. In patient would only occur in extreme circumstance when they feel the mother isn't capable of taking care of the baby or herself due to depression. I doubt a facilitator would suggest this for that reason, in that case it would involve emergency measures. I would suggest you go see what they can do for you. If you want you could ask family and friends to help you out so you can get some rest (that is probably what you really need). I would not worry about any negative consequences.
