Thank you for getting back to me . The label 'sociopath' is not much used these days, because it is now possible to make much finer distinctions amongst behaviors that used to be considered 'sociopathic'.
Your husband is displaying many of the traits associated with personality disorder, or more specifically, narcissistic personality disorder.

Narcissists are VERY difficult people to live with, and you really need to take great care of your own self esteem. People with your husbands problem lie along a spectrum of disorder, and therefor respond differently to the strategies which their oaertnesrs use to help them to cope. Try setting some very firm boundaries around his behavior, TELL him when he is beiong abusive or offensive - quite clearly and in those terms, and make sure he knows it is not acceptable and will result in unpleasant consequences - such as you leaving, if things are really bad.
