Hi there;

My question is regarding the usage/cut down/ ceasing of Lexapro.
I have taking it for anxiety for 2.5 yr and I no longer feel I need it.

So, rather than stopping suddenly, I have taken 5mg for the last few nights.

How long would I need to continue on 5mg (to avoid "withdrawal" symptoms) before ceasing altogether?

p.s. I also take Zyprexa Zydis 5mg wafer x 1 day for maintenance of BiPolar
Just so you know, the Lexapro is for treating the depression half of bipolar (in addition to anxiety) the Zyprexa is for the Mania. By quitting you are risking a major depressive episode. The risk is more a month or more from now, not always immediate and if you relapse it may take may take a month or so get stable again.

To answer your question, a week should be fine on 5 mg. then just stop. Longer actually can cause more side effects from too low of a dose.
