Hi, yes a lot of people do something out of it but that doesnt mean ADHD. ADHD is an inability to focus and concentrate.

Lack of impulse control can be due to a number of factors but not ADHD. Were you given any other diagnoses or is there any trauma in your history that might account for this?

ADHD is not related to bi polar disorder. It is a separate and distinct disorder with different criteria.

Bi Polar Disorder is characterized by what you describe (periods of euphoria, also known as mania) with periods of severe depression.

Sexual preoccupation is a feature of bi polar disorder but not ADHD.

The problem is that bi polar disorder is not often diagnosed in someone who is forty years old without prior "episodes". I am also wondering how you were diagnosed with ADHD so late in life?

Was school hard for you?

Did you graduate your high school or equivalency?

Bi Polar disorder is very often misdiagnosed because clinicians fail to observe the intensity and the duration of symptoms. I am wondering why both these disorders were diagnosed so late in life. You are peri meno pausal and there is no mention of this.

I suppose my last question to you before I turn this over to other experts is what your family history of mental illness might be?

which of your parents and how many of your siblings have mental illness and do you know their diagnoses?

Thanks so much for your patience, your query is a hard one. Its very late in life to be diagnosed with either ADHD and/or Bi Polar disorder and you have had two children without a depressive episode or manic episode. This is so uncommon. Its almost unheard of. let me know what other information you have on this.
